I wasn't expecting too much out of this movie, because the ratings were pretty low, but I found myself pleasantly surprised. The movie took the story seriously and played it straight when it could have easilt taken a turn in to camp.
One of the strongest pieces of the movie was the acting. Travolta is always fun to watch, and Will Patton, Roy Scheider and the other characters were really good.
Frank Castle, The Punisher, wasn't a great superhero. After his family is wiped out by gangsters he spends the rst of the movie trying to get his revenge, but spends much of it getting beaten up.
But he is based on a Marvel comic hero, and there was a sequel in which he fights a villain, so I guess we can count him as a superhero and he is pretty good.
